This past weekend, three of our members faced off in the North Sea Cup, and there was some wonderful action across the two days.
World Cup veterans Belgium faced Italy and Luxembourg in some competitive fixtures and the goals flew in.
It all got underway with a real ding-dong clash between Belgium and Italy, which swung one way then the other before ending 4-4.
Later in the day, Italy got a win on the board – and so in fine style, thumping Luxembourg 13-2.
Day two saw Italy gain a victory over Belgium in revenge for the day before, winning 6-3 and this increased confidence the Italian side rounded off a productive weekend with a superb 11-3 victory over Luxembourg, who will benefit, no doubt, from the experience.
The Italian side might have taken the glory, but ISF Director, Tom Nash, was delighted to see the tournament take place: “After the World Cup and the Champions League, everyone had realised what we’d missed and its brilliant to see these other tournaments happening. This will be the first of many over the next few months and congratulations to everyone involved in such a wonderful couple of days of football.
“All three countries acquitted themselves incredibly well and no doubt, players, management teams and spectators all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
