The annual Easter Open is one of the most pre-eminent tournaments in youth football, and this year the Easter Open will have the honour of welcoming a very experienced ex professional match official and current referee coach in English Football Martin Cassidy as a guest.
ISF Senior man, Martin is a former referee at the Easter Open, he attended with a large referee group for three years until his works commitments prevented him from continuing.
Martin met Jorg Oppers from the Ppen over 20 years ago in the USA and they are still very close friends today.
Martin is also Head of Referees for the International Socca Federation and along with Jorg worked with Mark Clattenburg and Bobby Madley in the Socca World Cup last October.
Former EPL Assistant Ref, Cassidy is also CEO of the UKs only registered referee charity Ref Support UK who have made national and international news for the support they give referees on and off the field of play.
Tiny van Gemert from http://www.easteropen.com/ said: “Martin will observe and more importantly, coach referees during our tournament. He will offer advice and support after the game or during half times. This is the beginning of a partnership with Ref Support UK that will enable us at the Easter open to support our referees and help with their development.
“We are very happy to have Martin and Ref Support UK on board. We value our referees and we feel this will enhance their experience.”
